Fifty Latino Workers and Supporters to Confront Construction Company Which Owes Tens of Thousands of Dollars
 in Illegally Withheld Wages

WHAT:
A protest on behalf of a large group of workers, who have suffered gross violations of unpaid wages and overtime pay. For years, York Restoration, a construction company based in Queens, has refused to pay its employees entire weeks of wages owed for construction work.  Most recently, in 2008 and 2009, Make the Road members Carlos and Luis worked remodeling luxury apartments in Manhattan for York Restoration.  For several months last year, they were not paid any wages at all.  Like many employees before them, they were promised each week that they would be paid the next week, and they continued to work, but for two months, they received no wages. Both employees eventually quit.  In addition, during the years that Carlos and Luis worked for York Restoration, they were regularly required to work up to 58 hours a week but were never paid overtime wages as mandated by law. These employees, along with many others, are now owed tens of thousands of dollars in unpaid wages.  Numerous claims have been filed against York Restoration with the New York State Department of Labor for unpaid wages and violations of overtime law.
