Make the Road New York, through partnership with the Pan American International High School (PAIHS), is proud to present the first edition of "Al Borde de Mi Nueva Vida" (On the Edge of My New Life). Students in PAIHS’s Social Justice class in Elmhurst, New York wrote this book in the spring of 2009 about the
injustices immigrant face when crossing the borders throughout Latin
America on the journey to the United States.
As immigrants, we want a
better future for our community and thats why we wrote this book of real
life stories. Through the retelling of our past, our stories will not be left in
shadows.
Nosotros somos la clase de Justicia Social de la escuela Pan American
International High School (PAIHS) en Queens, NY. Al Borde de Mi Nueva Vida
está inspirado por la película De Nadie. Este libro es sobre todas las
injusticias que sufre nuestra gente al cruzar las fronteras de Latinoamérica
hasta los Estados Unidos. Nosotros, los inmigrantes, queremos un futuro mejor para nuestra comunidad, por eso les traemos
este libro de relatos reales. El libro es sobre personas que han cruzado la frontera, y es para que los relatos no se queden
en la lejana obscuridad del olvido.
