Last night, the Senate Parliamentarian released her third advisory opinion against immigration measures in the federal budget reconciliation package. We are outraged!
It’s now abundantly clear that the parliamentarian is not only an unelected Senate staff attorney. She is biased and hostile towards our communities. Her opinion should be ignored.
Democrats still have the power to fulfill their promise of citizenship to millions of TPS and DACA holders and essential workers.
For years, immigrant communities have relentlessly fought for permanent protections; their livelihoods and those of their loved one’s depend on it. Just last week, hundreds of Make the Road members from across all our key states rallied to demand the Senate deliver on their promises to immigrants.
As our member Dolores Juárez said in our video below: “If they accept our work, accept our humanity. We demand respect. We demand to be treated with dignity.”
If you’re inspired, you can donate there to support our ongoing fight.
We urge Senate Majority Leader Schumer and Democratic leaders to include a path to citizenship in the Senate’s version of the Build Back Better bill. A pathway to citizenship will not only benefit our neighbors and loved ones–it will also allow for the country to truly recover and build back better.
Our demand is clear: Disregard the parliamentarian!
