We have an opportunity to win Coverage for All legislation for our communities, and we need you!
Last week, the New York State Senate passed this common-sense measure, which would ensure that low-income immigrant New Yorkers can finally access health coverage, at no cost to the state, and even create savings for the state. The regular session ended and the Assembly failed to move on it.
But all is not lost. With the Assembly returning on Tuesday, there is still a golden opportunity for Speaker Carl Heastie and his colleagues in the Assembly to pass Coverage for All legislation that passed the Senate.
Immigrants and advocates with the statewide Coverage for All coalition have fought tooth and nail to ensure access to health coverage and care, and the Senate wisely passed the bill. Now, we need all of our voices to make sure the Assembly follows the Senate’s lead and passes the bill.
If you have an hour of your day, please join us, bill sponsor Assemblymember Jessica González-Rojas, and other elected officials at City Hall Park this Friday at 12 PM, to help us bring home this crucial legislation.
¡Sí se puede!
