Hundreds of people walk through the doors of our five community centers each day seeking support. They are welcomed with trusted direct services, English classes, and a warm meal.
Members often describe our offices as a second home. Your gift enables us to create these spaces of care and community. Donate today.
This year, at our five community centers:
- 14,000 people received legal services that helped them avoid eviction, get critical home repairs, recover lost wages, and keep their families together;
- 1,400 people participated in ESOL, computer literacy, and citizenship preparation classes;
- 19,000 people received emergency food from our food pantries;
- 14,000 people received services that allowed them to access healthcare, fight unlawful insurance denials for treatment, and negotiate debilitating hospital bills; and
- 65,000 people were reached with health and health insurance resources, for themselves and their families.
Over the next four years, our community centers from Long Island to White Plains will be critical spaces for safety, care and organizing.
This spring, we’re opening our new Queens center near Corona Plaza, the heart of immigrant New York. The 24,000-square foot, three-story building will more than double our space for direct services, and includes numerous classrooms, private offices, and other exciting features! It will be a beacon of hope and strength for generations to come.
We look forward to welcoming community members into the safety of our new space, no matter what’s happening outside of our doors.
Together, we can expand what home means for our communities. Join us by making a gift today.
Thank you for being with us,
– Arlenis Morel, Co-Executive Director
