NEW: Our 2023 Respect & Dignity for All State platform!

  • Arlenis Morel Co-Executive Director
  • Theo Oshiro Co-Executive Director

This week, our members proudly shared our state policy priorities for 2023-24!

Our Respect and Dignity for All State platform, which we are launching as we celebrate 25 years of fighting for respect and dignity for all New Yorkers, lays out smart solutions to address the persistent inequities across our state and improve the lives of immigrant, Black, and brown people across New York State.

New Yorkers have sacrificed so much over the past two years, surviving both a pandemic and an affordability crisis that made daily life harder. Our communities have shown how resilient they are and have continued to push through against the odds. It is time to refocus and ensure that our communities have access to the full safety net and the protections needed to allow them to thrive and succeed.

 Here is what we’re demanding from state leaders in 2023-24:

  • Expand immigrants’ access to both health insurance and unemployment insurance;
  • “Good Cause” eviction legislation to protect all tenants from arbitrary evictions;
  • The Solutions Not Suspensions Act to limit suspensions and ensure student well-being;
  • Raising taxes on the wealthiest New Yorkers and ensuring truly universal childcare;
  • The Stop Violence in the Sex Trades Act to protect sex workers;
  • Full investment in adult education programs; and
  • More!

You can check out our full state policy platform here to learn more, and you can contribute to these efforts by donating today.

Governor Hochul and the Legislature should enact the policies in our platform to help ensure that all New Yorkers are treated with the respect and dignity they deserve.

You’ll hear more from our members in the coming weeks about what they are fighting for and how these policies would improve their lives. And we’ll stay in touch all year to share how you can support these fights.

We won’t win without you, thank you for your support.
