Did you know that there is a special election happening today in New York’s 3rd Congressional District?
That is right! This is the election to replace George Santos, who was expelled from Congress back in December.
For the past few weeks, our members have been reminding voters across northern Nassau County and into far northeastern Queens about the importance of showing up to this special election and voting to protect our freedoms, to earn a fair wage, to access health care and to retire with dignity.
Since the beginning of our voter education and turnout operation, our members have completed more than 6,400 door knocks, 35,000 phone calls, and 160,000 text messages to voters, in addition to bilingual digital ads running across the district. Our voter contact efforts focused on explaining the basics of the atypical February special election and encouraging community members to vote during the early voting period, or today, election day.
Today, voters are standing up for a New York where all of us have the freedom to stay and the freedom to thrive, and from the high early vote tallies we’ve seen in Westbury and New Cassel, we know our efforts are already bearing fruit. Your support will help us continue engaging voters in the upcoming elections this 2024.
We’re proud of these efforts to make sure that the voices of immigrant voters and working class voters of color are heard at the ballot box in today’s critical special election.
¡Sí se puede!
