In a powerful and heartbreaking piece, the New York Times tells the story of how the pandemic hit our communities, particularly in Queens. The new story, The Epicenter, features two of our members, Yimel Alvarado and Rosa Lema.

It is because of stories like Yimel’s and Rosa’s that we continue to demand a just recovery for immigrant, Black, brown and TGNCIQ communities that have been hit the hardest from the pandemic. Nearly 9 months into the pandemic, 1.2 million New Yorkers are still waiting on relief from state and federal governments.
