We fasted, we marched, now join us to call state leaders to #FundExcludedWorkers!

I just completed a 24-hour fast with over 100 workers excluded from unemployment, allies, and elected officials including our champions, New York State Senator Jessica Ramos and Assemblymember Carmen de La Rosa.

During this pandemic, New York’s billionaires have gotten richer, amassing a record $565 billion in profits since March. Meanwhile, immigrant families and other workers — who have lost their jobs and are excluded from unemployment — are going hungry. They are months behind on rent, with no income to pay for food or medicine, or survive this crisis.

There is a solution. New York is home to more billionaires than anywhere else in the world. We can pass a billionaire wealth tax and raise over $5.5 billion in state revenue — which is more than enough to provide relief for all excluded workers.

Last night, we slept on the doorstep of Jeff Bezos’ massive New York City penthouse (one of his many homes), and this morning, we marched with hundreds of allies to Governor Cuomo’s office to make our demands clear.

We MUST tax billionaires in order to create an emergency income fund for ALL excluded New Yorkers.

Take action now. Call Governor Cuomo and state leadership and demand that they tax billionaires and provide desperately needed relief for our state’s excluded workers.

P.S. If you haven’t seen our new video — narrated by Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams — demanding Governor Cuomo #MakeBillionairesPay and #FundExcludedWorkers, watch it now!
