I’m a DACA recipient. I’m ready to fight Trump’s mass deportation agenda and what it could mean for my family and my two young kids.

I’m familiar with the pain of family separation. When I was 19, my mother was deported after a traffic stop, suddenly leaving me alone with my younger brother. I can’t bear the thought of my own children going through that if DACA is eliminated. 

Make the Road New York has been fighting to protect families like mine for years—from defending DACA in the courts to pushing for expansion of Temporary Protected Status. Despite Donald Trump’s recent comments on DACA, his actions from his first day in office until now have undermined the well being of DACA recipients and used us as pawns in his political game. The next four years will be a test unlike anything we’ve seen.
