BROADCAST: Dr. Carol Burris, Barbara Bartoletti, Judith Enck, DREAM Act

The controversy surrounding Gov. Cuomo’s school reform proposals continues to grow. Among the New York teachers and administrators arguing against an increased reliance on standardized testing for evaluating teachers is Carol Burris, the award-winning Principal at South Side High School in Rockville Centre School District. She explains her take on teacher evaluations, education reforms, and school funding.

The League of Women Voters Legislative Director Barbara Bartoletti discusses the group’s opposition to the Educational Investment Tax Credit.

On February 12, Judith Enck, EPA’s Region 2 Administrator, will deliver a Climate Change talk at the College of Saint Rose in Albany. She joins Susan Arbetter to preview the event.

Advocates are here at the Capitol today to argue for the passage of the DREAM Act. Antonio Alarcon, Dreamer and Youth Organizer with Make the Road NY, and Jackie Hayes, a volunteer organizer with New Sanctuary for Immigrants in Albany, make the case for providing college tuition assistance to the children of undocumented immigrants.
