For the sixth year in a row, neighborhood organizers Make the Road NYs all-local pride parade marched down a sunny Knickerbocker Avenue. This past Saturday afternoon, around 100 people queer-identified immigrants and their supporters and family turned out for the event, though there werent many spectators.
The event seems more important in recent years, after the beating death of Ecuadoran immigrant José Sucuzhañay, attacked because he was thought to be gay. Make the Roads own Ana Maria Archila was recently profiled in a Times story on gay marriage.
