Dozens arrested at permitless ‘Governor One Percent’ rally

Dozens of people have been arrested so far at a protest outside Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office, with others out in the hallway, patiently waiting for state troopers to tap them on the shoulder and take them downstairs to a makeshift booking room on the concourse.

The arrests are taking place at the New York For All of Us Rally held to protest Cuomo, known at the rally as “Governor one percent.” Hundreds of protesters representing a range of progressive groups demanded better policies for the underprivileged and better schools, and fewer tax breaks for millionaires.

They don’t have a permit, hence the arrest. They also don’t have a microphone. Protesters are repeating the speakers’ lines. Their yelling and chanting has been heard across the Capitol building since just after 10 a.m., and is ongoing.
