September 28, 2018 @ 7:00 am - 9:30 am

From our partners: A Beautiful Perspective and NYU are coming together to organize a monthly morning concert and speaker event. Activist Mornings are part community inspired outreach for social justice and their first Activist Morning will focus on immigration, immigrants, and how we can stand up for those who have left their homes that are no longer safe. Featuring a STELLAR lineup of women, come and be inspired by: The incomparable M.I.A. speaking about her new film MATANGI / MAYA / M.I.A. and the identity politics of being a pop star and outspoken refugee; Rotana, a Saudi Arabian pop star whose searing, riveting songs grapple with identity, sexuality and love found and lost; Suhaiymah, who gives electrifying spoken-word performances about being visibly Muslim in a country with growing Islamophobia; Jennifer Mendelsohn, founder of resistance genealogy, who will talk about finding long-lost family after the Holocaust using her data-sleuthing skills.
