The federal government has cruelly ended programs that allowed hundreds of thousands of immigrants to live and work legally in the US for years, even decades:
* Temporary Protected Status for over 250,000 people from El Salvador, Haiti and Nicaragua;
* Delayed Enforced Departure for thousands of Liberians.
And the fate of thousands from Nepal, Honduras, Yemen, and Somalia hangs in the balance as their TPS status comes closer to expiring.
We need elected officials like Rep. Dan Donovan to act now!
Immigrants, their allies and Staten Island community groups will take over 1,200 postcards to Donovan’s office asking that he:
* Support three bills currently in Congress that would protect TPS holders;
* Speak out as a strong supporter to find a legislative solution for Dreamers.
Midterm elections are around the corner. Our communities will be going to the polls and we will vote on issues that matter to us, like the fate of our immigrant brothers and sisters.
