The Impact of ICE Arrests at NYS Courts
ICE continues to target NYS residents who are on their way, at or leaving court. This tactic is not only done without a signed judicial warrant, but has also served as an intimidation tactic that has had a chilling effect on community members that have to be in contact with courts.
This forum will present an array of experts from different backgrounds and organizations that will speak to the impact that ICE targeting people at NYS courts has had in our communities.
If passed, the Protect Our Courts Act (S425/A2176) will keep ICE from making arrests and targeting people going to, at or leaving NYS courts. This much needed piece of legislation will make New York a leader in the country by protecting undocumented people at a time when the Trump administration has declared war on them.
