The past year has witnessed examples of historic progress and tremendous setbacks to social and legal justice for LGBTQ Americans, from the administration’s persistent rollback of LGBTQ-friendly policies to a landmark non-discrimination case. These developments have significantly impacted the lives and experiences of LGBTQ Americans, and particularly LGBTQ folks of color, across the country.
At this panel, our guests will discuss current legal and political battles facing queer and trans Americans as we look to the future. We will explore not only the ramifications of legal decisions over the past several months, but the work of organizers on the ground to advance social, racial, and economic justice for LGBTQ Americans now and in the future.
This panel features a wide range of voices including NYC-based organizers and legal practitioners. They include:
-Liaam Winslet, Director of Programs, Colectivo Intercultural TRANSgrediendo
-Cristobal Gutierrez, Staff Attorney, Make the Road NY
-Justin Maffett, Associate, Debevoise & Plimpton LLC
