Hispanic Heritage Honors In Woodside

City Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer honored a number of community leaders during his fourth-annual Hispanic leadership awards ceremony last Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Tierra NY Restaurant in Woodside. As noted, over 150 guests participated in the event to recognize the contributions the awardees have made in the past year. Among the honorees, shown with Van Bramer (center), are Ana Maria Archila, co executive director of Make the Road New York; Edgar Cartagena, a community activist and volunteer at Doughboy Park in Woodside; P.O. Luis Diaz of the 108th Precinct Community Affairs Unit; Ramona Miranda Ortega, founder of Cidadao Global; Antonio Reynoso, chief-of-staff to City Council Member Diana Reyna and Democratic nominee for the 34th City Council District seat; Elba Santiago, a member of Community Board 2 and P.S. 11’s Student Leadership Team; Orlando Sarmiento, principal of Newcomers High School; and Christina Serna, director of the Ravenswood Senior Center.
