Labor Commissioner and Advocacy Groups Announce Thousands of Wage Violations

LABOR COMMISSIONER AND MAKE THE ROAD NEW YORK TO
ANNOUNCE THOUSANDS OF WAGE VIOLATIONS TUESDAY,
DECEMBER 11 AT NOON

 

 

New York State Department of Labor today announced that Commissioner M.
Patricia Smith will join the labor advocacy group Make the Road New York and
other community groups in announcing the results of a major investigation of 22
food markets in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn.
The Labor Department uncovered thousands of wage and hour violations affecting
more than 80 workers.

 

Where: The press conference will take place on Tuesday, December 11, at noon at the corner
of Himrod and Knickerbocker Avenue,
Brooklyn, New York.

 

Why: The announcement is part of the Labor Commissioner’s emphasis on enforcement of
laws that protect workers.
