Brooklyn Building Has 116 Open Violations and One Remaining Tenant
Wearing halloween costumes, and holding signs that say "We’re Not Scared!," fifty community members urge City Council to protect tenants from landlords who seek to harass them out of their homes in order to raise rent
WHAT:
At 546 Bainbridge Avenue, the landlord has employed a number of tactics to push the tenant out including giving a non-existent mailing address for rent and denying essential services such as heat and hot water.
Tenants will call on the City Council to pass tenant protection legislation to create a "cause of action" that they can use to seek harassment protection from Housing Court. Key City Council Members have already agreed to support such a measure.
