Landmark City Council bill to guarantee equal access to pharmacies for limited English proficient New Yorkers

***FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE***

Local legislation
first of its kind in the country; guarantees interpreter services and
translated medication labels in all New
York City pharmacies.

The
legislation builds on a recent settlement between the NYS Attorney General and
the Rite Aid and CVS pharmacy chains in which both stores agree to provide
comprehensive language services for customers throughout NY State.  The legislation would expand the obligation
to provide interpretation and translation services to all pharmacies.
