Cy-pres Awards
In some class action litigation, funds remain unclaimed after distribution to the plaintiffs. The cy-pres doctrine permits the designation of the residual funds to a non-profit charitable organization whose work advances the public interest issues presented by the litigation. Granting these awards to Make the Road New York is an invaluable way to honor and advance the interests of vulnerable workers and families.
