OVER 100 LATINO IMMIGRANTS TO PROTEST CNN’S OFFENSIVE AND MISLEADING COVERAGE OF IMMIGRATION ISSUES

For Immediate Release:  

Chanting, immigrant families to call for balanced coverage and an end to on air anti-immigrant slurs.

Protesters to decry the fact that Lou Dobbs has invited members of hate groups onto his show and failed to share these affiliations with his viewers.

WHAT:

Longtime CNN anchor Jack Cafferty described rallies by millions of U.S. Citizens and immigrants in the following way – "Once again, the streets of our country were taken over today by people who don’t belong here…."CNN Anchor Lou Dobbs has referred to Mexican immigrants as an "army of invaders."

Dobbs also claimed, "the invasion of illegal aliens is threatening the health of many Americans" through "deadly imports" of diseases like leprosy and malaria.

CNN Headline News reporter Glenn Beck slurred Mexican immigrants on his radio show, saying Mexico "is a country that has been overtaken by lawbreakers from the bottom to the top."

WHO:

The protest and press conference is being organized by Make the Road by Walking, a grassroots membership organization of thousands of immigrants and non-immigrants from Latin America living in New York City.
