Paying Tribute To Murdered Woman

Family and friends of a transgender woman who was recently murdered in Ridgewood were joined by community activists for a candlelight vigil outside the victim’s residence last Saturday afternoon, Apr. 24. As noted, the ceremony honored the memory of Amanda (a.k.a. Edelbuerto) Gonzalez-Andujar, 29, who was found dead in her 62nd Street home on Mar. 30, several days after being allegedly strangled by 29-year-old Rasheen Everett of Manhattan. The vigil reportedly brought together the victim’s family and close friends along with members of the LGBTQ Justice Project of Make the Road New York and other gay, lesbian and transgender organizations in Queens and New York City. Everett was arrested in Las Vegas on Apr. 13 and returned to New York the following day to be booked on murder charges at the 104th Precinct stationhouse. He is currently being held without bail
