On June
18, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and her out lesbian colleague Rosie
Mendez hosted a 40th anniversary celebration of Stonewall in an event that
honored Make the Road-GLOBE, a Bushwick-based group that
provides support and advocates for LGBT young people; Heritage of Pride, which
produces Pride Week events in Manhattan, including the June 28 LGBT Pride
March; and Bruce Cohen, the producer of the Oscar-winning film “Milk.”
Broadway’s Cheyenne Jackson entertained, and Tony-winning stage and TV actor
B.D. Wong (pictured) was the evening’s emcee.
