Rally For Sick Leave

Activists and workers rallied in front of the horse carriages at Central Park on Wednesday to urge City Council to bring Intro 97, the Paid Sick Time Act to a vote.

Protesters** said that council has recently given the carriage horses five weeks vacation time per year, but an employee that suffers an injury or sickness has no way to receive an income if they can’t go to work.

Intro 97 would provide private sector workers a modest income for 5 days a year for paid sick time.

**Make the Road New York members started the rally to urge City Council to approve Intro 97.
