Each year, the Rent Guidelines Board of NYC votes on the percentage rent increases applicable to rent stabilized lease renewals for tenants in the five boroughs. The new rent increases begin on October 1 of each year. Landlords of rent stabilized apartments are NOT permitted to apply rent increases above the amounts designated by the Rent Guidelines Board.
