Rent Relief Resources

Rent Relief (ERAP) applications are OPEN again.

IMPORTANT: The Emergency Rental Assistance program is now open again. Tenants should apply to be protected against an eviction while their case is pending. Unfortunately, due to lack of federal funds, those who apply now are unlikely to get their arrears paid.

UPDATE ON HOUSING MORATORIUMS AS OF September 1, 2021

The New York State legislature voted to extend the moratorium on evictions this week. It will now be law. No eviction can take place until January 15th.

To receive protection under this moratorium, tenants should submit a hardship declaration to the court or to their landlord OR apply to the ERAP program.  The declaration can be found here.

The new moratorium allows a landlord to challenge the declaration in a hearing in front of a judge.  It’s important that tenants know that if a landlord seeks a hearing, this is NOT the same as an eviction!

Please remember to speak with an attorney about any specific questions about your case!
