Video: Group gathers at Capitol to urge wage hike

It’s not just MMA that people are fighting for this legislative session.

Hundreds of people rallied inside the Capitol on Monday, calling for a minimum wage increase.

They delivered a petition to the governor asking him to raise the wage to $15 an hour.

The governor supports a minimum wage increase, but only from the current 8.75 to $10.50 an hour statewide, and 11.50 in New York City.

Most New Yorkers agree that the minimum wage should be increased to at least $10.50 an hour.

According to a new Siena poll, 20 percent support Governor Cuomo’s plan.

There are 52 who percent support the Assembly’s plan to raise it to $10.50 now, with provisions to go higher.

There are 26 percent who support the Senate’s plan to keep the minimum wage at $9 an hour.
