With the Legislature on hiatus, labor and community groups have been working behind the scenes to reconcile Assembly and Senate versions of the Wage Theft Prevention Act passed over the summer. The Assembly bill would more aggressively go after employers that violate wage and hour laws. Make the Road New York, UFCW Local 1500 and others are pressing the Senate, the Assembly and Gov. David Paterson to reach a deal.
