“Casita” Resource Guide

After a long and difficult journey, you are now here in New York, the Big Apple. New York is your home, and this booklet is a supportive embrace to welcome you to this great city. We know you’ve had a difficult time on your journey here. We know you’ve left behind loved ones, delicious food, and places where you feel at home. We understand that you came to New York with a desire to find stability, security, opportunity, and perhaps, your new home. New York is a beautiful place, but it can also be an overwhelming and difficult place to navigate, especially at the beginning. That is why we are writing this letter to you: to let you know that you are not alone. Here, in this great city, there are people who fight every day so that all of us, no matter where we come from or our immigration status, have a life of dignity, safety, hope and opportunity.

This booklet was written by the organization Se Hace Camino New York (Make the Road New York) with the purpose of helping newly arrived immigrants to New York access essential services and resources in everyday life. In this guide you will find information about your rights as an immigrant and resident of New York. You will also find information on how to access resources offered by the New York City and State governments and community organizations such as Se Hace Camino New York.

So welcome to your new home, We are here to support and accompany you!

We are here to continue fighting, together with you, for a fairer world for all!
