Join us this Thursday, January 14th at 6:00PM for a Virtual Forum with Congresswoman Grace Meng & Pramila Jayapal. This event will be focused on the resolution that will be introduced by Rep. Jayapal — best known as Roadmap to Freedom. Some highlights below:
*Seeks to promote a pathway to citizenship that is equitable and accessible – centered in family based immigration, unification of family and reuniting individuals that have been deported with family members in the US.
*It also highlights key points that need to be improved in the immigration system of the US such as: (1) Eliminating the entanglement of the criminal and deportation systems; (2) guaranteeing access to legal defense and (3) ending detention in its many forms (detention of children, families, vulnerable populations, mandatory detention, etc.)
Roadmap to Freedom proposes a lot more solutions to the gaps that exist in the immigration system of the US and establishes an immigration vision for immigration that is affirmative and centers on solutions that have a great impact on immigrant communities in the US.
