Brooklyn labor organizers are calling for a boycott of supermarkets who they say have paid zero wages to grocery baggers.
About 100 protesters picketed the Associated Supermarkets on Knickerbocker Avenue in the Bushwick section Sunday, in spite of the soaking downpour.
They were led by Make the Road by Walking, a community organization.
Owners and managers of the Bushwick store said they treat employees fairly. Co-owner Nelson Veloz said that the supermarket is a family business.
