Student Coalition Against Racial Profiling (S.C.A.R.P) Town Hall Meeting

In response to the arrest of over 40 students en route to the wake of a recently deceased friend, Make the Road by Walking’s Student Coalition Against Racial Profiling will hold a Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday June 5, 2007. The Coalition is asking District Attorney Hynes to drop all charges against the youth, and a public apology from the precinct.

Bushwick residents also seek a commitment from Mayor Bloomberg, Police Commissioner Kelly and Chancellor Klein to ending police misconduct and racial profiling.

The community will hear more about this incident and tensions between youth and police in Bushwick. The Town Hall will be the first of many events designed to spur dialogue within the community and mobilize for police accountability.
