Immigrant workers can connect with government and nonprofit services during the inaugural New York State Immigrant Workers Rights Awareness Day.
The Staten Island observance takes place Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Faber Park in Port Richmond.
The event will provide information in multiple language about workers rights on the job regardless of immigration status.
Similar events are being held around the state this weekend by the New York State Assembly Subcommittee on Workplace Safety and the New York State Department of Labor, Bureau of Immigrant Workers Rights.
Assemblyman Matthew Titone (D-North Shore) and City Councilwoman Debi Rose (D-North Shore) are sponsoring Staten Islands awareness day.
Participating organizations include Project Hospitality; El Centro del Inmigrante; Make the Road New York; Staten Island YMCA New Americans Welcome Center; the Jewish Community Center of Staten Island; African Refuge and Community Health Action of Staten Island.
Representatives of the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Department of Labor also will attend.
