Amazon’s Own Data Shows Its Staten Island Workers are Injured More Often than Coal Miners, Waste Collection Workers, Other Laborers

Amazon continues to speed up delivery to customers, but at a dangerous cost to workers.

Over the past two years, New York City has seen a massive expansion in Amazon’s logistics footprint, with the opening of a 1 million square foot JFK8 Fulfillment center on Staten Island and additional delivery stations in the Bronx and Queens.

The grueling costs of working in these Amazon warehouses have been widely reported, from the stories of workers foregoing bathroom breaks to hit their productivity rates, to staggering turnover rates, injuries, and deaths on the warehouse floor.
