Tenant rally is in the ‘house’

A COALITION of progressive groups, tenant activists [including Make the Road New York] and fed-up renters rallied at City Hall Thursday for a new campaign to help push Mayor de Blasio’s affordable housing agenda.

The group, Real Affordability for All, aims to advance de Blasio’s goal of creating 200,000 units for low-income tenants.

Among the hundreds of people who crowded City Hall’s steps was Fidelina Mueses, a single mother who shares a Bushwick, Brooklyn, one-bedroom with her three children.

“It’s really hard to live with so many people in one bedroom,” said Mueses.

But it’s all she can afford.

“Sometimes I don’t even know how I’m going to put food on the table,” she said.

The campaign also released a report that said there is a shortage of 400,000 affordable housing units in the city.
